American Institute of Indian Studies Fellowship Scholarships for Students


AIIS welcomes Scholarships for Students applicants from a wide variety of disciplines. It especially encourages applicants in fields such as Development Studies, Natural Resources Management, Public Health, and Regional Planning.

Junior Research Fellowships Details:

Scholarships for Students Available to doctoral candidates at U.S. universities in all fields of study. Junior Research Fellowships are specifically designed to enable doctoral candidates to pursue their dissertation research in India. Junior Research Fellows establish formal affiliation with Indian universities and Indian research supervisors. Awards are available for up to eleven months.

Senior Research Fellowships Details:

Scholarships for Students Available to scholars who hold the Ph.D. or its equivalent. Senior Fellowships are designed to enable scholars in all disciplines who specialize in South Asia to pursue further research in India. Senior Fellows establish formal affiliation with an Indian institution. Short-term awards are available for up to four months. Long-term awards are available for six to nine months. A limited number of humanists will be granted fellowships paid in dollars funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Phd Position Scholarships for Students in Biological Sciences


The Scholarships for Students research focuses on the perception of pathogens and the reprogramming of host cells by microbial factors in the model plant Arabidopsis. The project is the combination of biochemical and molecular approaches to understanding the role of Avr2 in planta, an effector of Phytophthora infestans, the cause of late blight.

Qualification

Scholarships for Students Applicants must hold a master's degree. or equivalent in biological sciences with experience in plant physiology and / or genetics. Basic knowledge of bioinformatics is an advantage. A salary according to German standards (E13/65% TV-L) is made​​.

PhD Scholarships for Students in Management


CGS admits up to 12 fellows a year. Scholarships for Students are admitted by the Board of
CGS based on their grades, expertise and availability of a potential supervisor.

Eligibility
To be admitted, students must hold a Master’s Degree or a Diploma in a discipline relevant to the
curriculum and research interests of CGS. Relevant disciplines are
Economics, Management, Finance, Social/Political Sciences, Energy
Economics/Policy, Econometrics/Statistics and related fields. Candidates
must have a proven record of academic excellence and belong to the top 10% in their respective field.


Benefits

Fellows receive a monthly stipend of EUR 1.200
for three years. No tuition is charged. Following a successful
evaluation after the first year, fellowships will be extended for
another two years. A full PhD
Scholarships for Students program runs for three years. Extension offellowships beyond this period is not possible. Fellowships are
tax-free.
Scholarships for Students will have a fully equipped office within the CGS
department, full access to all libraries and other university institutions and additional funds for participation in conferences, summer schools, etc.

Degrees

Students submit their doctoral thesis in German or English to the Department of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne. The degree awarded is a
German `
Dr. rer. pol`.

Academic Advisors
During the program, doctoral students are advised by a member of the CGS-faculty.
Scholarships for Students Applicants are strongly advised to consult the list of faculty prior to their application to ensure potential supervision once accepted. Once
accepted, students are asked to find a supervisor no later than by the
end of their first year of studies.

Dr. Mary L Thornton Scholarship in Education

The Dr Mary L Thornton Scholarship is an annual scholarship in Education, funded by a bequest from the late Dr Thornton. This Scholarship, which is open to holders of an NUI degree, is intended to encourage postgraduate research within NUI in the field of Education. The NUI would wish, through the scholarship, to encourage research related to Irish higher education and accordingly, preference will be given to applications in this area. However, applications will be accepted in relation to projects in any area of educational research.
Eligibility: To be eligible to enter for the scholarship, a candidate must be a graduate of the National University of Ireland and must
have been accepted, or have applied for admission as a research student at Masters or PhD level in the field of Education
in a Constituent University or Recognised College of the National University of Ireland.
Students who are registered for a taught Masters degree are not eligible.
